Smart tokens
The closed token glossary and how tokens resolve on the page.
Reviewed
What this is for
Every token a template may contain, and nothing else resolves. It is a closed list on purpose: nothing may print as a literal {token} on a document a customer signs, and a typo can only be caught against what is spelled correctly. This page is generated from the same catalogue the resolver and the insert menu read.
Steps
- Press Token glossary on Report templates, or open
/app/templates/glossary. The page is headed Smart tokens. - Search a token, a label, or what it fills in.
- The groups are The project, The design, Production, Money, Storage, Your company and This document. Comes from is the column that tells you, in advance, that a page of payback figures needs a financial model attached and a page of yield figures needs a simulation.
- Type the token, braces included, into a text or heading on a template. Save. A name that is not on this list is refused.
- When a document is generated, each token is replaced from the sources attached in the generate dialog. A missing source prints a dash, not a guess.
Tips and common mistakes
{self_sufficiency}comes from the storage model.{annual_production}comes from the simulation. They are not interchangeable, and the glossary says so.- A closed list is a feature. Inventing
{my_margin}will not save. - The list is the product's. Do not maintain a second copy in a spreadsheet.
