Create a project and open the workspace
Geocode a site, pick a profile, and open the project.

What this is for
Getting a physical site onto the team's list, and opening it. Create lands you in the designer. Opening an existing row lands you on Overview, with the rest of the job in the strip across the top.
The short path from there to a first production number is Your first project. The shape of everything that hangs off the site is How a project works.
Steps
Create
- On Projects, open New project. The page says it: name the site and drop a pin. The rest can wait.
- Project name is required. Client is optional. Add notes if the team needs working notes - nothing typed there is printed on a proposal or sent with a grid application.
- If the team has more than one design-defaults profile, pick which starting point new designs copy. A team with one profile does not see the picker; that profile is used.
- Location: search a place or address, paste a coordinate pair, or drop the pin by hand. A project can be created without a pin, but nothing can be designed until one is recorded.
- Grid connection is optional. Skip it if you do not have the bill in front of you. It is used later for grid-code checks and application paperwork. Placing the pin suggests the network from where it falls.
- Create and draw the array creates the project and opens the designer. Nothing on this page is asked again there.
Open
- Back on Projects, the team's sites are the table. Click a name to open Overview.
- Open designer is the way into the canvas from Overview. The strip is the rest of the workspace: Electrical, Conditions, Consumption, Results, Storage, Financials, Compliance, Documents.
- Shared with you is work another team shared with you by name, to view or to edit as they chose. It is one project, not a seat on that team: editing it does not include sharing it on, duplicating, archiving or deleting it, which stay with its team.
Tips and common mistakes
- A name is the one thing Create will refuse without. The refusal puts the cursor back in that field, even when you had scrolled down to the map.
- If the team has already used this month's project allowance, or has no plan because its trial or subscription has ended, create (and Duplicate on the list) is refused. That ceiling is Plan and usage.
- Overview also asks for Client email and Client phone. The email is where a proposal is sent and the address a grid application asks for; nothing leaves from these boxes on their own.
- Changes on Overview wait for Save changes, which appears in the header with Discard once something differs. Leaving with unsaved changes asks first.
- A project with no pin still opens. Put the pin on Overview before you try to fetch weather or draw against imagery.
- Projects belong to a team. If you are not a member of any team, the list says so rather than looking empty.
- On a list row: Duplicate copies the whole site (the copy starts as a draft), Archive files it without changing its lifecycle status, Restore brings it back, Delete takes it off every list - the confirmation says its history is kept and an administrator can recover it. Restore does not un-win a job.
- The getting-started strip on the list is the same four steps as Your first project. Dismiss hides it for good.
