Roles, view-only, and invitations
Who can edit, who can only view, and how invitations work.

What this is for
Every person on a team has one role. The role is what the product will honour, not what a hidden button would have suggested. A Viewer is view-only. A guest share link is a different door - it is a link to one project, not a seat on the team.
Steps
Roles
On Members, the team lists each person and the role they hold:
- Owner - everything, including billing and who else owns the team.
- Admin - everything except those two.
- Designer - creates and edits projects. The default for a new member.
- Viewer - reads projects, designs and reports. Changes nothing of the team's. Their own account is still theirs: password, two-factor, passkeys and name under Your account.
An Owner or Admin changes somebody's role from the row menu on their line: Make Admin, Make Designer or Make Viewer; an Owner also sees Make Owner. The role they already hold is not offered.
Only an Owner can grant or take ownership. An Admin cannot remove the Owner. Nobody removes anybody else's seat on their own behalf either: taking yourself out of a team is its own page, below.
The Members card also shows how many seats the plan allows. An invitation is refused once the seats are full, or while the team has no plan, even if the list still has a box to type into.
Invite someone
- On the Invitations card, enter a work email and pick a role. Designer is the default.
- Send invitation. The link is valid for a limited number of days, shown on the card.
- If email delivery is off, the page shows the link once so you can pass it on yourself. It cannot be retrieved again. The token is a credential - do not paste it into a ticket or a log.
- Outstanding invitations can be revoked from the row menu.
The person already needs an account, or they create one first. The invitation link then opens Join a team.
Accept an invitation
- Open the link you were sent. You must be signed in.
- Accepting adds you to the team and switches you into it. Your own team's projects stay where they are - switch back from the team control in the top bar.
- Not now leaves the invitation unused.
- A missing, expired, already-used or revoked token all read as the same failure. Ask whoever invited you to send it again. An incomplete link (no token) says so on the page.
Leave a team
- On Members, open the row menu on your own line and choose Leave this team.
- The page names the team you are leaving and the team you carry on working in. Leave the team takes effect at once, and this session moves to the other team. Stay in the team goes back.
- The team's projects, designs and documents stay with the team. They belong to it rather than to you, and you lose access to all of them.
- Coming back needs a fresh invitation from somebody who administers that team.
Two refusals are worth knowing before you go looking for the entry, which is drawn only where it can work. The only Owner cannot leave: make somebody else an Owner first, or erase the team. Nobody can leave their last team either, because nothing in the product creates a second one - somebody has to invite you to it.
Tips and common mistakes
- View-only on the team is the Viewer role. A guest share is a link to one project for somebody who is not a member. Do not invite a customer as Viewer when a share link is what you meant, and do not send a share link when you meant to give a colleague a seat.
- Changing a role takes effect the moment you pick the entry. There is no confirm.
- A Viewer sees a Read only notice on every project, and the strip across the top keeps only Overview, Electrical, Results, Compliance and Documents. Somebody a project was shared with to view sees the same. The drawing is still there: Open the designer on the Designs card of Overview opens it read-only.
- Market on the Team card is the currency, units, grid code, wiring standard and tariff sources this team works to. It is not a person's role.
- Projects belong to a team. If you are not a member of any team, Projects says so and there is nothing to open.
