Financial models

Pair a simulation with a tariff and a consumption profile.

What this is for

Energy into money. The number this page converts comes from a simulation, hour by hour, never from a yield assumption times an average price. A saving is the difference between two computed bills: consumption alone, and consumption net of generation. That is the only way a fixed charge shows up as the thing solar did not remove.

The tariff is the site's. It is set on Grid connection, not picked here. The consumption profile is the project's, edited on Consumption. This screen pairs a completed run with those two and computes.

Steps

  1. Open Financials. New model starts another.
  2. Save writes the inputs. Save and compute writes them and runs the engines, and stays disabled until the pairing is ready. Saving drops a stored result, because a cash flow left standing beside changed inputs is a number nobody can tell is stale.
  3. Not ready to compute names what is missing: typically no design, no completed simulation, the site names no tariff, or no consumption profile chosen. The tariff line says it is set on the project's grid connection, and the site strip at the top carries a Grid connection link. The consumption profile is fixed with Edit consumption under its picker.
  4. Choose a run from the same list every other screen uses (not the results matrix). Choose a consumption profile. Payment (cash, loan, lease or a power purchase agreement) is how the capital is treated.
  5. Tariff library on the head opens the curated schedules, the same page as Tariffs on the sidebar. It is not a section of this project.
  6. After Save and compute, the two bills sit beside each other. Why the bill did not fall as far as consumption did is almost always the fixed and demand lines.

Until the model has been computed, the six headline figures are not drawn at all. The list says not computed, never 0.0 yr.

Tips and common mistakes

  • You cannot compare two tariffs on two models of one site. Change the project's tariff and compute again: the model shows Unsaved changes until it is saved against the new one. A quote issued last year still reproduces against the version it was frozen with.
  • A capacity charge billed on the connection rating is refused if the site has not stated one, never billed at zero.
  • Green is not used for a saving. Amber-as-text is the figure, not a verdict.
  • A warning above the page that no network is chosen means exported energy is being credited without anything confirming the network buys it. Nothing reports a failure, because nothing was checked. Set the network on Grid connection before quoting.
